“A Design Sprint is a time-constrained process that uses design thinking with the aim of reducing the risk when bringing a new product, service or a feature to the market.” - Wikipedia
There are typically 6 phases in a design sprint and each phase has a specific goal which contributes to the end goal.
- Understand: This phase helps you understand the user’s problem, the competitors and the existing market.
- Define: This is where you define the direction that you will like the product to follow.
- Sketch: The sketch phase is where the team scribbles down several variations of the product to be used.
- Decide: This is where the sketches created in the sketch phase are analyzed and the best are chosen from the multitude of options.
- Prototype: This phase is where you prototype the final sketch to be built.
- Validate: Here, you check with customers that you are building a customer centric product.
As a Product Manager, you need to understand the basic concepts of design so make sure to take time out to learn about it. This would help you work better with your team.
